This year Mitsubishi Electric Ireland will showcase its Solutions for Manufacturing at the National Manufacturing and Supply Chain Conference.
Innovative technology
Mitsubishi Electric Ireland has created a demo cube stand which showcases all of its latest technology. The demo stand includes their innovative SCADA solutions for control and visualisation, the GOT Rugged HMI, the latest in inverter technology- the E800 and advanced PLCs. The demo stand also showcases the TSN (Time sensitive Network) network; CC-Link IE TSN, which is the first to combine gigabit Ethernet bandwidth with Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN). It has increased openness while further strengthening performance and functionality.
Also present at the show will be the Mitsubishi Electric COBOT- the MELFA Assista and Mitsubishi Electrics range of Low Voltage Switchgear.
Smart manufacturing
Mitsubishi Electric has built on its experience in industrial robots to develop a COBOT range that addresses the real world challenges of different applications and sectors. For delicate and precise tasks, MELFA Assista COBOTs offer a repeatability of ±0.03mm. They can easily be combined with vision technology, making them ideal for use in applications covering everything from dosing mixing and counting to dispensing, inspecting and marking medications.
Designed to assist human operators on the shop floor, COBOTs can take on simple, repetitive and physically strenuous tasks. This offers improved consistency and reliability in manufacturing while enabling humans to concentrate on more complex jobs. A key benefit of COBOTs is their ease of programming, enabling frequent redeployment and fast set-up without advanced robotic programming expertise. Hand-guided teaching, where the MELFA ASSITA COBOT arm from Mitsubishi Electric can be simply moved to the desired position and added to the operational sequence at the press of a button, can improve the ease and speed of configuration. Operators then press a single button on the teaching panel of the arm and the position is added to the robot program. Combining this with an intuitive, touch-enabled, graphical programming tool – RT VisualBox – makes it easier to build sophisticated applications without any programming knowledge.
The MELFA Assista COBOT will be on the Mitsubishi Electric stand at the upcoming National manufacturing Exhibition for ‘hands-on’ demonstrations.
Extreme Environments and harsh conditions
With a larger working ambient temperature range and resistance to ultraviolet rays, the GT25 rugged HMI can be used in the harshest of environments. The structure of the front panel has been reinforced with a metal housing meaning the rugged model can be used in environments that are subject to vibration or shock, such as construction equipment or snow plows. The GOT front panel complies with IP67F and IP66F, and can be washed with high pressure water, making it perfect for use, for example, in food processing systems, or the model can be found in energy monitoring systems of power conditions installed outdoors. The robust features and design make the GT25 the ideal HMI all types of applications.
Supporting smart factories
Also present at the show will be the latest inverter technology from Mitsubishi Electric. The FR-E800 inverter series offers multiple networks and high performance predictive maintenance through AI and built-in corrosive gas alert. The FR-E800 supports the new EM-A Permanent magnet motor from Mitsubishi Electric. The EM-A motor is a highly efficient, advanced electric motor which allows for high-performance sensorless position control.
A highly flexible, compact inverter series with multiple built-in networks, including TSN (Time Sensitive Networking), the E800 Series was released by Mitsubishi Electric to support the needs of smart factories. Industries including machine building and automotive, as well as food & beverage, life sciences and water treatment will benefit from the control capabilities. Using AI, the FR-E800 reduces downtime with its extended predictive maintenance capabilities featuring the world’s first* corrosive gas alert system. The inverters also achieve high performance control of induction and permanent magnet motors to Safety Integrity Level (SIL).
Also present on the stand is the IQ-R Modular PLC. The IQ-R allows for up to four CPUs on the same rack with TSN and other networks. It also supports failsafe functionality with redundancy across multiple levels reduces single-point failures.
