Recovery Month is an annual awareness month focused on challenging the stigma associated with addiction and celebrating recovery

Throughout September, Merchants Quay Ireland (MQI) will be raising awareness by taking part in activities, starting conversations, and shining a light on the real-life experiences of individuals who are bravely tackling addiction, no matter what stage they’re at in their journey.

During Recovery Month, we are asking people to look beyond the stigma, support recovery, and share our message to help create a society rooted in compassion, dignity, and understanding.

MQI’s 80km Road to Recovery Challenge

Every year, we invite individuals and organisations to be a part of Recovery Month by participating in our Road to Recovery Challenge. We are asking people to walk, run, cycle, swim or just move 80km during the month of September to raise awareness and funds for our vital Recovery services. By participating, you are helping to reduce the stigma associated with addiction and supporting individuals on their journey from crisis to recovery.

This month, we are asking corporate organisations to enter teams in time for our September launch. It’s a great way to connect, encourage positive staff wellbeing and have fun, while supporting a worthy cause. Here’s how you and your team can get involved:

How it works:

  1. Sign up and set up a fundraiser page Road to Recovery Challenge 2026 | Merchants Quay Ireland
  2. Receive a pack with t-shirts, socks and other essentials.
  3. Share your journey with friends, family and colleagues to raise funds
  4. Walk, run, cycle, swim or move 80km in September

It is a simple challenge, but it carries real meaning. Every kilometre helps to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and bring hope to the people we support.
