The global leader in bulk materials handling solutions, Martin Engineering, has formed a new partnership with Plimley Trading, one of Ireland’s most trusted mechanical engineering and fabrication specialists
The new agreement means quarry operators, mining companies and bulk material handlers in the Republic of Ireland will have direct access to Martin’s range of innovative solutions for cleaner, safer, more efficient materials handling, supported by the unrivalled capability of Plimley’s skilled engineering team.
Within the new partnership – the latest of several similar collaborations Martin has established across Europe – Plimley will supply Martin’s trademark orange conveyor products, air cannons and other components. The deal formalises existing relations between the two firms that help solve common problems of production spillages and blockages for Irish producers of aggregates, cement, concrete, lime and zinc.
Dave Harasym, Martin Engineering’s Branch Manager for UK & Ireland, said: “After getting to know Plimley over the past decade we’re delighted to strengthen our partnership and extend our reach across Ireland. Like Martin, Plimley is a close-knit team with family values at its heart, and together we will solve our customers’ problems more rapidly and help them to continuously improve. Plimley is one of the few firms with the experience and technical know-how to rise to any materials handling challenge.”
Shane Dunne, Director of Plimley Trading, said: “Our new partnership with Martin is a natural extension to the services we offer, and complements our position as a certified supplier of wear-resistant steel components. The deal supports our capacity to install market-leading conveyor products and material flow aids, such as air cannons, on the processing plants we work on week-in, week out. It also means more efficient maintenance regimes, upgrades to existing plants and faster resolutions to production problems. We’re both family companies that take pride in doing a proper job.”
Among the solutions available in Ireland through the new partnership are:
- Unmatched belt cleaning – Martin’s revolutionary CleanScrape primary and secondary conveyor belt cleaners and CleanScrape HD for heavy duty applications. CleanScrape is the most durable, flexible and versatile belt cleaner on the market.
- Air cannon technology – Air cannons prevent material build-ups and blockages inside refractory vessels, silos, hoppers and chutes. Martin introduced the world’s first low-pressure air cannon 50 years ago and continues to innovate to this day.
- Remote monitoring – Martin’s pioneering N2 system uses wireless technology to monitor conveyor belt cleaners and air cannons, delivering performance data via a mobile app or desktop dashboard. N2 reduces physical inspections, saves time and effort, lessens safety risks and helps control costs.
- Transfer point solutions – The latest innovations in safe, efficient material transfer – from conveyor belt alignment, belt support and belt sealing to chute design and tail pulley protection.
Over the coming months the two businesses will work closely to ensure the team at Plimley knows the Martin product range inside out. Both teams are confident they can make a real difference to productivity and performance in Ireland’s foundation sectors.
Martin Engineering’s UK headquarters are in Shirebrook on the Derbyshire-Nottinghamshire border in England. Martin is one of the largest global manufacturers of belt conveyor accessories and flow aids. Rooted in safety and efficiency, the company’s innovative designs improve bulk material flow in heavy-duty environments, including conveyor belt cleaners, transfer point systems, air cannons and dust control equipment. Martin’s products eliminate blockages and build-ups, prevent spillage and reduce dust emissions for less downtime and a lower cost of operation.
