MMS Electronics supplier of SMT172, a ground breaking temperature sensor that redefines performance and efficiency. Cutting-edge silicon temperature sensing technology and advanced IC design techniques deliver unparalleled precision and speed.
The SMT172 is an ultra-low power, fast reacting, high-precision temperature sensor that combines the ease and top performance over a wide temperature range. Using the most recent advances in the silicon temperature sensing technology, the SMT172 uses sophisticated IC design techniques and high-precision calibration methods. The sensor is calibrated to an accuracy ±0.04°C at 25°C room temperature, to provide absolute inaccuracy of ±0.06°C in the range of 10°C to 40°C and less than ±0.1°C in the range of -20°C to 60°C. Full temperature range -45°C to 130°C.
Calibration of the temperature sensor is wafer-based, this method allows for absolute high accuracy and minimum deviation between single sensors. The sensors are completely calibrated ±0.04°C at 25°C.
The SMT172 operates within a supply voltage of 2.7V to 5.5V, ready for direct connection to microprocessors with 3.3V or 5.0V supply.
Industry-leading low power consumption (0.36µJ/measurement) and high-speed conversion (4000 outputs per second at room temperature). The typical active current is only 60µA while active.
The SMT172 has a pulse width modulated (PWM) output signal, where the duty cycle is proportional to the measured temperature. PWM output sensors have high noise immunity and high reference accuracy. The sensor can used with cables lengths of 10 metre and above.
The sensor PWM output signal can directly interface to a MCU without using an Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC). The hardware timer in a MCU can easily read the sensor PWM signal. 8 consecutive duty cycle measurements or multiples of 8 have to be measured for improve performance. The sensors are easy to interface and multiplex. It is extremely easy for any user to get started with this temperature sensor and achieve quick time to market. For quick development with the SMT172 temperature sensor evaluation boards are available
MMS Electronics can supply different sensor packages to suit various application SMT172-SOIC, SMT172-SOT223, SMT172-TO18, SMT172-TO92, SMT172-TO220 and SMT RVS1802 a 7mm stainless steel probe with 5 metre cable. We can also supply naked DIE (1.3 x 1.7 mm) or specialised probes.
The SMT172‘s exceptional performance and ease of use make it the perfect choice for many applications, including mass spectrometers, biotechnology, humidifiers, dialysis, sterilizers, bio-incubators, wearables, IOT, HVAC, refrigerators, freezers, clean rooms, solar panels, heat pumps, battery and power component monitoring, environmental, industrial and medical measurements.
