Homevalue hosted its second Annual Golf Classic in support of Barretstown on Thursday 10th September at Glasson Lakehouse, raising over €50,000 to support children and families affected by serious illness
The event returned following the success of Homevalue’s inaugural Golf Classic in 2025, which raised €40,164 for Barretstown. Last year’s event brought together 27 teams and marked an important early milestone in the charity partnership between the two organisations.

This year, 27 teams of four again took part in a day of golf and fundraising, helping the event build further momentum in its second year. Guests enjoyed breakfast and refreshments on arrival and received team packs and branded goodie bags before heading onto the course. The day concluded with an evening barbecue, prize presentation and fundraising raffle.
Guests also had the opportunity to take part in a number of popular on-course competitions throughout the day, including the Longest Drive, Nearest the Pin and Beat the Pro challenges. These activities added an extra layer of competition and entertainment to the event, while helping to drive additional fundraising in support of Barretstown.
The event received strong backing from Homevalue suppliers and partners, whose participation and contributions helped maximise the amount raised for Barretstown.
Prizes were awarded to the leading teams on the day:
- 1st Prize: Laydex
- 2nd Prize: Fleetwood Paints
- 3rd Prize: Saint-Gobain
- 4th Prize: Guardian Distribution
- 5th Prize: Calor Gas
- 6th Prize: Wavin
Alan Quinlan presented the awards before the day concluded with a cheque presentation from Homevalue to Barretstown.
Paul Candon, CEO of United Hardware, which operates the Homevalue brand, said: “Following the success of our first Golf Classic last year, it was fantastic to see this year’s event receive such strong support once again. We are delighted to have raised over €50,000 for Barretstown, which reflects the generosity and commitment of everyone who took part, donated or helped to make the day possible.
“Our partnership with Barretstown means a great deal to everyone across the Homevalue network. We are proud to continue supporting the vital programmes it provides for children living with serious illness and their families.”
Tim O’Dea, Director of Development at Barretstown, added: “We are incredibly grateful to Homevalue, its members, supplier partners and everyone who supported this year’s Golf Classic. To see the event return for a second year and build on the success of 2025 is a strong reflection of Homevalue’s continued commitment to Barretstown.
“The funds raised will help us provide our therapeutic camps and programmes free of charge to children and families affected by cancer and other serious illness. Support from partners such as Homevalue plays a vital role in helping us reach more families and give them the opportunity to experience Barretstown. Every camp, every programme, every session we offer is completely free. That is a founding principle we have never compromised on, and never will. Your donation helps us keep that promise.”
The Annual Golf Classic forms part of Homevalue’s wider charity partnership with Barretstown. Across its network of 88 independently owned stores, Homevalue supports fundraising, volunteering and awareness activity for the charity.
The event is set to return in 2027, continuing to bring together Homevalue members, suppliers and partners in support of Barretstown.
