Non-invasive ground engineering company Geobear has become the first and only resin injection company to achieve verified compliance with the Irish Building Regulation through its British Board of Agrément (BBA) certification

A benchmark for product quality and fitness-for-purpose, Geobear UK has held the BBA certification since 2021 and remains the only geopolymer injection company in the world to have earned the achievement.

Resin injection specialist achieves Irish BBA certification

The milestone follows the BBA’s recent launch of an Irish building regulations compliance add-on for its Agrément certification holders, enabling Geobear to extend its existing certification to cover its Irish operations. Following updates from the Irish government post-Brexit, third-party certificates used in Ireland must confirm coverage for use in the Republic of Ireland, demonstrating compliance with Parts A-M, of which Geobear now fulfils completely.

The updated certification gives Irish specifiers, engineers, architects, building control bodies, and property owners, reliable third-party verification that Geobear’s geopolymer injections comply with Irish Building Regulations, removing a key barrier for professionals seeking to utilise advanced ground engineering solutions.

The British Board of Agrément is an independent, regulated body for the UK construction industry that helps to create accountability and mitigate risk. The BBA certification is a mark of compliance based on rigorous national and European standards, validating a construction product’s specialist formulation, capability, and uniqueness.

“This is a significant moment for Geobear in Ireland,” said Richard Dee, Director of Geobear Ireland. “Our customers and their advisors can now have complete confidence that our solutions meet Irish Building Regulations, verified independently by a respected certification body in the construction industry.

“As the first and only geopolymer injection company to achieve this certification, we are proud to be setting a new benchmark for quality, transparency and technical assurance. At a time when regulatory certainty is increasingly important, being the only geopolymer injection company with this certification demonstrates our commitment to quality, transparency and delivering the highest standards for our customers,” Dee continued.

The certification also covers Geobear’s advanced geopolymer injection technology, which strengthens weak soils, fills voids, and lifts sunken structures, without the need for excavation.

The certification process includes independent laboratory testing of materials, assessment of structural characteristics and durability, evaluation of design and installation practices, and ongoing surveillance of production. Certification holders also undergo a formal three-year review, to ensure continued compliance with the BBA.
