The PPMA have announced that they aare holding two technical seminars at the Carlton hotel, Dublin airport, one in April and one in May looking at health & safety issues and regulations.

10th April 2014 – SHWW: Safety Health & Welfare at Work (The Irish Equivalent of PUWER in the UK)

This one-day seminar provides an overview of the ‘Safety Health and Welfare at Work’regulations – Subjects covered include:- an Introduction to the SHWW 2005 and managing day to day Health & Safety, covering Risk Assessment, The Safety Statement and Integrating safety with other functions (Maintenance/Continuous Improvement/Lean).

29th May 2014 – Machinery Guarding

This seminar discusses the Essential Health and Safety Requirements of the Machinery Directive specific to guarding, also the PUWER regulations specific to guarding, as well as looking at the need for risk assessment and how to use the relevant EN Standards. It is intended to ensure that those assessing machines or specifying guarding know the legislation to be followed, and understand the basic principles of the subject. When provided in Ireland, the requirements of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (SHWW) are addressed instead of PUWER.
