Proportional solenoid valve is suitable for use in analytical and medical applications

Emerson has unveiled an ASCO 22mm Flapper valve, ideal for use in Analytical and Medical Technology (AMT) applications. The new valve design prioritises separation between the media and the mechanical operator, and combines this with highly accurate proportional flow control so often associated with ASCO products – opening it up to a multitude of application possibilities.

Flapper technology is one of the safest and most reliable solutions on the market for achieving fluid isolation. Not only does it exclude particulate contamination caused by friction of moving parts, it also minimises heat transfer to the media, and even provides protection to the valve itself from harsh media.

The valve ensures further protection of the media quality thanks to its low internal volume plus a self-draining feature, both of which make it very difficult for media to become trapped or stagnate within the product.

“Thanks to our sophisticated fluid isolation technology, our 22mm Flapper valve will provide medical equipment manufacturers with complete confidence in the total hermetic separation of fluid and mechanics.” Said Alain Crampon, AMT Business Development Director for ASCO. “We understand how critical this function is to both them, and ultimately the end user. We also wanted to provide a product that could stand the test of time in these kinds of applications.”

The new proportional valve has a tough PEEK material body that can withstand even the most aggressive media, considerably increasing its life span and ensuring a safe and accurate operation at all times.

It has a pressure range of 0 to 4.5 bar, and a temperature range from 5°C to +50°C. The proportional Flapper valve complements Emerson’s complete range of ASCO solutions for the AMT industry.
