The Sempre Group has strengthened its surface roughness and form measurement capability with the appointment of Chris White as Hommel-Etamic Waveline and Formline Product Specialist for the UK and Ireland
Chris brings 38 years of engineering experience, including 31 years in the metrology sector. His career includes 25 years in surface roughness, roundness and form measurement, managing UK service operations and global technical support. During this time, he also spent five years working within a UKAS-accredited laboratory, calibrating customer artefacts and developing a strong practical understanding of metrology fundamentals.
At The Sempre Group, Chris will focus on supporting customers across the Waveline and Formline portfolio. He will provide technical guidance, demonstrations and recommendations, supporting instrument familiarisation and operation and supplying technical information and quotations to our customers.
Chris’s expertise in surface roughness measurement has been built through extensive technical support work, training development, publications and hands-on use of Hommel-Etamic equipment. A key strength he brings to Sempre is his ability to translate complex measurement principles into clear, intuitive explanations that map directly to real customer challenges.
“I bring clarity, confidence and usability to surface roughness testing through the Waveline range,” says Chris White. “I take complex measurement principles and turn them into workflows people can trust. My strength is helping customers see exactly how these systems fit into their world.”
At MACH 2026, visitors will be able to explore the Hommel-Etamic Waveline range with Sempre, including the W5, W10, W15, W40 and W800 systems. Discussions on the stand will focus on roughness and contour measurement requirements, identifying production bottlenecks, and understanding how Waveline systems can be integrated into existing manufacturing processes.

The Sempre Group will be exhibiting at MACH 2026 from 20–24 April at Stand 19-439 in the Measurement and Inspection zone.
Chris White will be available on the Sempre stand for informal discussions as well as pre-arranged meetings about your surface measurement needs, with the full waveline range for demonstration. Please contact us https://www.thesempregroup.com/contact-us/ if you would like to book a specific time slot.
Chris will support visitors in understanding what each model is designed to do, the problems it solves, and how to select the right configuration for their application, helping manufacturers make informed and confident decisions around surface measurement.
