In the past ultrasonic sensors could often not be used for measuring corrosive media levels or in applications involving machinery and equipment being cleaned with corrosive liquid. This was often down to the corrosive effect on the ultrasonic transducers of these liquids and their emitted gases.

Microsonic has developed a special sensor based on its existing zws design. It involves the entire sensor housing including the ultrasonic transducer up to the connecting cable being protected with a special parylene coating. As a result, the whole of the sensor is hermetically protected. Available from Balluff, this new crz ultrasonic sensor with its protective coating can now be used in corrosive environments.
