Socomec, a manufacturer of low voltage power management solutions, has today announced the UK & Ireland availability of its expanded MODULYS XM range – an ultra-modular Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system designed for medium-power data centre applications
The system offers parallel capability up to 2 MW and can be configured as six 300 kW units or four 500 kW units, giving operators greater flexibility to increase capacity both for new installations and upgrade projects.

MODULYS XM is built around true modularity, addressing the growing pressure on data centres to meet higher power demand without disrupting live services. It is the only modular UPS system in its class that delivers full hot-swap capability for both power and battery modules without transferring to bypass or interrupting the load. Uniquely, this hot-swappable process is completely risk-free and automatic, complete with self-aligning firmware capabilities, supported by a distributed control architecture that removes single points of failure to maintain availability during every intervention.
The UPS is adaptable to all aspects of parallel architecture – supporting increased capacity, enhanced redundancy and a wide range of configuration designs – and offers full front access that makes it suited to space-constrained halls. Its reliability is independently certified, with power modules delivering a Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) greater than one million hours – four times higher than the typical market standard.
“Data centre operators tell us they’re under constant pressure to grow capacity while keeping systems online, and that becomes even harder to do as facilities age,” said Justin Killick, Country Manager, Critical Power, Socomec UK & Ireland. “MODULYS XM is a direct answer to this problem. It allows operators to scale and maintain their infrastructure without creating a shutdown window – which is ultimately what keeps a data centre dependable. And since the system can be modernised through simple swaps to extend its lifecycle, operators can avoid the cost and complexity of a full replacement over time.”
