It has been a busy year for Ireland’s Eurolec Instrumentation Ltd following its successful acquisition by industry frontrunners Scientific Measurements Pte Ltd.

Scientific Measurements – parent company to Cirrus Research and Acoustic Instruments International – has more than 40 years’ experience in the sector and counts product ranges Optimus, Revo, doseBadge, Trojan and Invictus among its industry-leading brands.

The deal, which concluded in March, has seen Eurolec as a brand and trading name continue within the Scientific Measurement fold. Its existing head office has remained in Dundalk, County Louth and its chain of distributors were also unaffected.

Coinciding with the handover, Eurolec founder and Managing Director Tom Mears also retired after a five-decade career in the sector and 19 years since establishing the company. Chris Mears was appointed as the new MD, formerly heading up the company’s sales & marketing. The rest of the Eurolec team remained unchanged by the buy-out.

Moving forwarding, product enhancement and development are now the key priorities for the new owners. Its experienced marketing team hit the ground running and have already launched a revamped website for its newest subsidiary. The new-look website can be found at: http://eurolec-instruments.com/

The news of the acquisition by Scientific Measurements Pte Ltd has also prompted increased interest in Eurolec’s range of thermometers, pressure gauges and vibration monitors, with the brand continuing to enjoy strong market recognition.

Chris Mears, Eurolec Managing Director, said: “It has been full-on since we became part of Scientific Measurements and we have been working closely with its marketing team to start getting our key product and brand messages out there.

“The very first important stage was the website and since the new look went live we are already seeing a sharp spike in visitor numbers as well as positive comments about the look and its ease of use. We are going to continue to build on that great start, to maintain and grow our customer base online as well as through our solid distribution network.”

Daren Wallis, Scientific Measurements Director added: “This is a new chapter for the company but we have inherited a strong legacy and a great platform to build upon.

“Scientific Measurements as a company has an unrivalled track record of innovation and product development and we want to put that experience into play with Eurolec’s temperature and pressure gauge products. The ranges are an ideal fit for our current product portfolio and the Eurolec team will be able to enjoy the added benefits of our R&D and global sales & marketing team behind them.”

Eurolec currently manufactures and supplies a wide range of thermometers, probes, Infrared thermometers and temperature loggers to suit all budgets. The applications are wide and include the Food Industry/HACCP, Laboratory, Engineering, Chemical/Pharmaceutical, Education, Environmental, Rubber/Plastics, HVAC, General Industry. It is also the UK & Ireland Distributor for Ono Sokki products and supply a range of FFT, Vibration, Noise and Displacement measurement instruments from one of the world’s leading manufacturers.own products as well as for a range of temperature and pressure measurement instruments from other manufacturers. We can also offer calibration of other parameters such as %RH and Airflow.

As well as the wide range of products the team also offers At Eurolec, we offer a range of calibration services for both our own products as well as for a range of temperature and pressure measurement instruments from other manufacturers. We can also offer calibration of other parameters such as %RH and Airflow.a calibration and repair service, not just on its own products but across a range of temperature and pressure range instruments. This covers calibration of other parameters such as 96RH and airflow.

The company also likes to put its own products through their paces in some of the most extreme test conditions available. The most recent additions to the Eurolec range of instrumentation, the Pro-Com series of thermometers and probes, were put to the test in one of the harshest environments in the world – the Arctic.

An international 3-man research team have embarked on ‘Poletrack’ a 1000km climate research expedition. Various sensors and probes were used in the recording of data, including a Eurolec portable thermometer, the PC Temp PT1, to measure snow temperature.

The PC Temp PT1 uses a high accuracy PT1000 sensor providing readings from -30 up to 200 C. The PC series were designed and manufactured for demanding HACCP applications and were chosen by the test expedition for their accuracy, reliability and robustness. Data from the expedition will be used for weather forecasts and research purposes, including the World Climate Research Programme. The PC Temp PT1 also complements Eurolec’s existing range of portable and process instrumentation for temperature, pressure and other parameters.

Throughout the demanding two-month expedition, the team will be taking thousands of snow depth measurements in support of climate change research that will be studied around the world. We can also offer calibration of other parameters such as %RH and AirflowAt Eurolec, we offer a range of calibration services for both our own products as well as for a range of temperature and pressure measurement instruments from other manufacturers.
