It is the goal of many manufacturing and process companies to optimise existing resources such as plant, equipment and personnel.

Very often the key to improved productivity is in capturing and utilising data from the factory or process itself, and combining this with data from other sources such as stock control , order entry, despatch etc.

The use of  MES ( Management Execution Systems) packages such as SAP is becoming increasingly common in the factory environment and this frequently means that factory-floor operations must be able to communicate with familiar IT infrastructure such as Ethernet networks, PCs and databases,

The purpose of this seminar is to introduce methods and technologies for acquiring and managing data from manufacturing processes and production lines, and to show how to turn that data into useful information for improving productivity and efficiency.

Among the technologies presented will be PLCs and Fieldbuses such as CAN, CANopen, PROFIBUS, PROFINET, plus OPC, OPC UA and others.

There will be hands-on demonstrations of a wide range of products and technologies and also a demonstration of a turn-key solution for improving OEE, or overall equipment effectiveness.
